About the project

So you've wandered onto the about page. Did you know almost nobody reads those? I could literally write about the best way to skin kittens here, and no one would notice.

My name is Alex Kirko, and I'm the new guy who has been doing this writing and blogging stuff for quite a while. In the past, I've mostly published movie reviews, but it turns out that there is not as much demand for entertainment in Russia as I'd hoped. My country has better things to do. Like crush frozen geese with tractor tracks—true story.

Hence the switch to English. Writing original fiction is what I enjoy most, and I hope to gather some good will with you all before publishing my first novel in February or March 2017. Reviewing whatever my gaze lands on is also fun, though if your taste is far from vanilla, maybe this stuff isn't for you. I mean the people who wouldn't be caught dead watching Avengers or Love Actually. They would rather re-watch Mulholland Drive for the twentieth time.

P.S. For the occasional technical nerd. This site is written from ground up by me, so don't waste your time trying to recognize the CMS or the responsive design library—there are none. Pretty slick, huh?
