Miscellanious: fanfiction, 2015

Foreword

Back in December 2015 I was just getting into reading fanfiction and discovering what a great community writes and reads stories in all kind of settings: from Harry Potter to Star Wars to Hikaru no Go.

I was always inspired by Fate/Stay Night by Kinoko Nasu, and the desire to write professionally was already building in me, so I decided to write my own take on the story, and it eventually became Eye of the Sword.

This is the story of a much different Shirou Emiya, one who was distorted in the fire more than he was in the original. He gained more power in exchange for keeping less of his humanity, and he realized much sooner what he had become. This is the story of him fighting not only to protect but also to discover his purpose and recover what he had lost.

This book is a repackaged edition of the story I originally published on fanfiction.net. It has all the text I had there with no edits minus the author’s notes and end-of-chapter notes. Those extras are fun, but they get in the way of reading, and you can always check them out on ff.net. Since the original got 130,000 views, and a ton of positive feedback, I thought it would be worth my time to make a cleaned-up version that you can download and read as an e-book on all kinds of devices or just read on my website using the built-in software I have there.

Needless to say, this is fanfiction. I don’t own any part of the Nasuverse or Fate/Stay Night (the people you are looking for are Kinoko Nasu and the company TYPE-MOON), and this story is written for fun and no profit whatsoever. If somebody sold you this book, you have been robbed. Also, I was just starting out, and my style is quite raw here, but I still like the story and others seem to like it too. I did comb it for typos multiple times.

I encourage anyone who enjoys this story to go and watch any of the Fate/Stay Night anime series, play Fate/Grand Order, or get the original visual novel or its sequel Fate/hollow ataraxia. Support the creators of this world we get to play with.

A note for for iPhone users. If you have anything older than iPhone 6 and try to read this story on my site, chances are the reader will break. Sadly, this is not because of my design but because of how the e-reader engine (futurepress) interacts with iOS on low-resolution small screens. I suggest you use the download link and then read the story with a EPUB reader app.
